Affordable, safe, and stable housing is a foundation of economic stability. The lack of affordable housing, inequitable housing policies, and housing instability interferes with employment opportunities, disrupts educational access, and creates long-term economic, health, public safety, educational and other social costs.

MLRI believes that everyone deserves healthy, safe, and affordable housing in thriving and diverse communities.

MLRI’s housing advocacy focuses on:

• improving the rights of low-income renters
• promoting equitable development and preventing displacement of residents in communities undergoing development
• furthering fair housing policies
• ensuring access to the court system by low income tenants and landlords
• advancing the preservation and production of affordable housing stock
